John Buschlen, founder of TNT Shirts, developed a keen interest in art and graphic design at an early age. He started printing t-shirts in his apartment, using the sun to expose his screens and drying t-shirts in his oven. John got his first printing press in 1982 and opened a little retail store selling his custom prints to neighbors and friends.
It all started with the boots.
In 1992 John, Peter, Mary Jane Buschlen, and Brian Bokermann developed licensing and began selling shirts featuring famous western photography images by Douglas Kent Hall around the country at The Rodeos. John did the artwork by hand, using rubdown letters bought at Texas Art Supply and a xact-o knife to cut out images.
This is when the whole sale printing line took off. They expanded to included shirts featuring images by Norman Mauskopf and Sandra Jones Campbell and sold them through retail stores around the country.
After John’s death in 1993, TNT Shirts has since expanded more into contract printing. We bought our first embroidery machine in 1999. We bought our first automatic printing press in 2002, have continued to expand ever since.
Although the retail shop has now closed, TNT Shirts still serves the Greater Houston Area by providing high quality custom screen-printing, embroidery and heat transfers.
Brian Bokermann
Co-Owner
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA. Graduated from University of Missouri in 1980, worked for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in Kansas City as an auditor. Brian had no experience with graphic design when he joined with John Buschlen in a partnership.

Born in Ottawa Canada, grew up on the island of Bermuda where his main interests were fishing and scuba diving. Graduated from University of Houston in 1986. Peter has been with TNT Shirts company since its founding.
